Integrated Legal Clinics’ French Language Service Program

We are pleased to announce that our pilot project, formerly known as the “French Legal Advice Line” has now been approved as a full program. The name has been changed to Integrated Legal Clinics’ French Language Service Program, however the services will remain the same.

This initially started out as a pilot project created and funded by Legal Aid Ontario (LAO) in 2009. Within the scope of its mandate to enhance access to justice and French Language Services, this is designed to provide French Legal Summary Advice to callers living in underserviced communities throughout the province. This particular program provides general summary advice and referrals only. (For French representation to low income people in the Southwest region, please click on the tab “Southwest region” under the FLS heading).

There are four toll free advice lines servicing areas province-wide which encompass the North, the East, the Southwest and the GTA; each of them administered by a Community Legal Clinic and funded by LAO. Areas of law may vary in each region, however, the focus relates to poverty law service.

Please note that Family Law and Criminal Law matters are not included as part of this program and callers are directed to contact the LAO toll free number at 1(800)668-8258 for information.
